The Green-It-Yourself (G-I-Y) guidebook, hands-on workshop, G-I-Y Supplies, and free video series will provide to the general public a concrete means for being green. The series will illustrate key cost-effective and sliding scale strategies for the average consumer to immediately integrate into their everyday life routine.

LORI GIBBS

Lori combines the sensibilities of architecture and writing to bring inventive ideas into functioning fruition. Green-It-Yourself is Lori's latest eco-friendly design/build workshop project. Previous workshops she has conducted designed and built rain-water collection, reuse and toilet flushing systems at Habana Outpost in Brooklyn.
Other projects she has worked on include: the Greening and Growing NYC exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York (about PlaNYC) and Reinventing Grand Army Plaza Design Competition and Exhibition (sponsored by the Design Trust for Public Space).
Drawings, buildings and words engage people, and by grafting these mediums together Lori has also written and researched for architectural publications including, Log (published by the Anyone Corp.) and Thinking Outside of the Structure:Critical Thinking for Designers and Architects (Fairchild Books, Conde Nast Publications).

ATOM CIANFARANI

Atom is a recycled-commodities designer, sculptor, and green roof specialist.  Everything Atom creates has an integral commitment to preservation.  Working with a multiple of greenroof  and living wall systems, atom has taken her knowledge and experience to design and install greenroofs from Vancouver, Canada to New York City.
She is on the Board of Directors of the Lower East Side Ecology Center, designed Brooklyn's famous Eco-Eatery Habana Outpost, designed the world's first Light Pipe Chandelier, guest lectured and critic at the country's first sustainable fashion accredited course, and is currently a commissioned sculptor who examines "urban bioremediation" creating animal habitats. HABANA HERB GREENROOF, BROOKLYN NY

Installed Memorial Weekend 2008

This greenroof was designed and installed for Habana Outpost, Brooklyn.  The roof soaks up stormwater runoff and produces rosemary and mint as our first foray into roof-to-table food production.

Installed June 2007

This is a traditional commercial greenroof. This project was installed on a new 3 tower building complex mixed residential and commercial. The installation included a 8th, 5th, and 2nd story greenroof.
